Testimonial – “My trip to Dharamshala was excellent”

Short Break to Dharamshala

Balcony of flowers near the library of tibetan works in mcleodganjI would rate the services of Shanti Travel as excellent. I contacted them on short notice, and was impressed with their agility and efficiency to arrange all the details in just a few days. The trip was fine. The hotel is modest, but very clean and decent, with good vegetarian food, friendly Tibetan staff and an excellent location, not far from the main square; I would definitely choose it again.

Punctual and efficient

A panorama from the Kangra FortThe train was as expected. It is a pity that in Brazil we don’t have, as you do in India, such extensive railway coverage of the national territory. I was satisfied with the driver, who was always punctual, polite and prudent. He made some very good suggestions of attractions that otherwise I wouldn’t have found by myself. Please convey to his company my appreciation of his work. Once in Dharamsala I found out there are plenty of interesting things to see. I can tell you that even five or six days wouldn’t be too long for a place of such rich cultural heritage. It all depends on how interested one is in the Tibetan and local culture.

Snowy mountains of the Dhauladhar rangeThings to do in Dharamshala

A brief list of things to do or see there: Dalai Lama Temple; Library of Tibetan Works; Institute of Buddhist Dialectics; Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute (for quick medical consultations without previous appointment); Church of St. John in the Wilderness; Dal Lake; the view of the Dhauladhar mountains from Talnoo-Nadi; Kotwali Bazaar; Kangra Devi Temple; Kangra Fort; Kangra Art Museum; Naam Art Galley; tea plantation in the Kangra Valley; Gyuto Monastery; lovely restaurants (Nick’s Italian Cuisine, Common Ground Café); Norbulingka Institute; War Memorial; Chinmaya Tapovan Trust; etc. And then, of course, there is the busy street life of McLeod Ganj, where one can easily spend many hours strolling around.
